About Us
Culture To Go is a gallery lunch counter and culinary studio rooted in Anacostia—DC’s official Arts and Culture District. We craft seasonal, locally sourced meals inside a working art gallery, turning food into a natural extension of the exhibitions around us. Here, bread, creativity, and culture rise together.

Culture To Go began with a simple idea: that food and culture can rebuild a community from the ground up. What started as a neighborhood sourdough project grew into a creative hub where bread, art, and conversation meet daily. Menus shift with each exhibit, regional ingredients, and the chef’s own family traditions. Every dish becomes an “edible exhibition”—a way to nourish both body and imagination.

Southeast Sourdough is a small-batch, community-rooted sourdough bread program operating from a shared community kitchen in Ward 8, Washington, D.C. Under our parent company Culture To Go, we focus on increasing food access, preserving cultural food traditions, and creating local economic opportunity through thoughtfully made, naturally fermented foods.
Practices
We bake naturally leavened breads, offer affordable catering, and host creative workshops that uplift neighbors and support community entrepreneurship. Every loaf, event, and gathering helps build a more connected, more flavorful Ward 8.
